For decades, 2210 Summit Street was Summit Station, remembered as Ohio's first lesbian bar and its longest running one. The bar closed in 2008, and the building reopened in 2009 as the Summit Music Hall. In 2023 the Ohio History Connection dedicated a state historical marker to Summit Station, the first in Central Ohio to recognize LGBTQ history.
Built for loud
The Summit is a small club, and it does not do quiet. Metal, punk and hardcore bills fill most of the calendar, with local openers and touring bands sharing the night. Expect a standing crowd and a short trip from the bar to the front of the stage.
Age limits change from show to show, so check your ticket and bring ID.
Finding it
The Summit sits on Summit Street just north of campus, a few blocks east of High Street, so the High Street buses leave you a short walk away. If you drive, look for a spot on the side streets and check the posted rules before you walk away from the car.
Stacking shows
Rumba Cafe is up the street at 2507 Summit, and the High Street rooms, Ace of Cups and Spacebar, are a little farther north and west, close enough to walk on a decent night. When a heavy bill is your plan, our hard rock calendar tracks the rest of the week.
Two pieces of advice
- Earplugs are cheap and small rooms are loud. Bring a pair.
- Openers here are often local bands. Arriving early gets you a better spot and a look at who to see next.
